A 40-year-old man was killed early Sunday morning in a two-car crash on Wake Forest Road that police say was likely caused by speeding.
Rondell Shontee Kimble, who was a passenger in one of the cars, died at the scene. Kimble was riding in a Toyota sedan that was attempting to turn left on Hodges Street from Wake Forest Road around 2:30 a.m. when it was hit by a Ford sedan heading in the opposite direction.
Reginald Antwan Scott, 32, who was driving the Toyota, is being treated for “life-threatening” injuries at WakeMed, according to Raleigh police.
The driver of the Ford, 28-year-old Kyndel Jemel Eason is charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, operating a vehicle without a license and carrying a concealed weapon.

Eason was taken to the Wake County Detention Center after being treated at WakeMed.
“The speed of Eason’s vehicle is believed to have played a major role in the collision,” Raleigh police officials said in a news release Sunday, adding that their investigation of the crash continues.
