A woman was hospitalized after a fire that broke out Wednesday morning in a one-story house at 1519 Hanover St. in Five Points, fire officials said.
The woman, whose name was not released, suffered from burns to her hands and smoke inhalation and was taken to the UNC Hospitals Burn Center in Chapel Hill.
Firefighters were called 5:01 a.m. and found heavy fire in the back of the house, they reported.
The fire was under control shortly after 5:30 a.m., they said.
Capt. C.N. Townsend, a fire department investigator, said the cause of the fire was undetermined and was under investigation,.
