Man charged in Durham stabbing attack

Jamel Demario Daye, 21, faces a charge of assault with intent to kill in a stabbing Saturday in the 1300 block of Holloway Street.
Police arrested Daye after they answered a call about 4:30 p.m. that a man had been assaulted.
EMS rushed William Devoil Allen, 25, of Durham to Duke University Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, and police he was listed stable condition.
Daye was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and possession of a cocaine-class drug, and police also served two 2012 warrants accusing him of obtaining property by false pretenses, a felony, and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods.
Daye was being held in the Durham County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail and was due to have a first court appearance on Monday on all four charges.
