Cary police arrest Richmond County man on child porn charges

Police went to Richmond County on Wednesday to arrest a man who they charged sent child pornography to a detective working undercover on the Internet.

In arrest warrants, police charged that Steven Robert Cote, 36, had electronically sent three pictures of preteen girls in sexual situations to Detective Kevin West, who is a specialist in tracking Internet crimes.

Cote was arrested at his home at 16441 Wright Road in Marston.

He is charged with three counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a child and was being held in the Wake County Detention Center in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Cote was scheduled for a court appearance Thursday.
