A 31-year-old Raleigh man is charged with four counts of taking indecent liberties with a child in incidents that police said went back as far as the beginning of 2008.
Edgar Jovito Velasquez-Mendez of 5248 Vann St. was charged Monday night following questioning by detectives, records show.
A series of arrest warrants say that the actions, which police said involved two girls under 16, went on through Monday.
A magistrate set Velasquez-Mendez’s bail at $100,000, and he was held overnight for a court appearance Tuesday.
Immigration officials also asked that he be held for 48 hours for a check of his immigration status from Guatemala.
