A 50-year-old Raleigh man has been charged with assaulting a woman and setting fire Wednesday morning to the house where he lived.
Police had been looking for Joe Edward Campbell since shortly after the fire broke out at 2118 Charny Drive.
He was arrested Thursday morning at New Bern Avenue and Trawick Road, about 1.5 miles from the fire scene, and charged with second-degree arson, assault on a woman who lived at the same address, bruising her arm, threatening to burn down the house and interfering with emergency communications by ripping a phone cord from the wall when she called police for help.
No one was reported hurt in the fire.

Campbell had a first court appearance Thursday shortly after his arrest and was being held in lieu of $40,000 bail at the Wake County Detention Centerfor a court date on Friday.
