Wake deputies have charged a Greenville woman with leaving her one-year-old daughter alone in a locked car while she visited the Wake County Detention Center.
Tiffion Michelle Spady, 27, was arrested while visiting the jail, and investigators later learned that she had nearly a half dozen outstanding warrants for her arrest in Wake and Pitt counties for missing court dates.
Spady, of 2800 Bubba Blvd. in Greenville, was charged with one misdemeanor count each of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and child abuse, according to records filed at the Wake County Magistrate’s Office.
Spady was also charged with five counts of failure to appear in court for two Wake County hearings in July to answer to charges of driving while license revoked and expired registration, court records show.
Never miss a local story.
Spady was scheduled to appear in Pitt County District Court for the same charges in August and September, court records show.
Spady was arrested Monday after a deputy found her daughter inside a car in the parking deck of the Wake County jail off Hammond Road.
The officer reported that the car was locked and unheated on a night when temperatures dipped to 39 degrees, court records show.
Spady was being held in the Wake County jail Tuesday in lieu of $21,000 bail, a jail spokesman said.
