Raleigh police have charged a 30-year-old man with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle in connection with a Saturday night crash that killed the driver of a scooter.
According to a press release Sunday, police responded at 10:45 p.m. Saturday to a collision at the 5400 block of Glenwood Avenue. Police say Atilio Vasquez-Vasquez, 22, was riding on a Sampro Scooter and traveling east in the far left lane of Glenwood Avenue. Chun Evans, 30, was driving a 2004 Toyota and also going east on Glenwood Avenue in the far left lane. Police say Evans failed to reduce his speed and struck the scooter. Vasquez died at the scene.
Two women were also riding in Evans’ car but no one was hurt. Evans also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession of marijuana.
