Police arrested a man in his room at a South Saunders Street hotel Saturday, saying he had 30 grams of crack cocaine that he cooked with a hot plate and a skillet.
James Henry Pickett, 41, was arrested at the Super Eight hotel at 2501 S. Saunders St., and arrest warrants showed that police seized the crack and equipment for making it.
Pickett, who gave officers no permanent address, was charged with cocaine trafficking, manufacturing a Schedule II drug and other drug offenses.
A magistrate set Pickett’s bail at $275,000, saying he had an “extensive” record of arrests on drug and firearms charges.
Never miss a local story.
State prison records show Pickett has Wake County convictions for cocaine offenses dating to 1994 and was convicted of being a felon in possession of a gun in 2007.
