Police detectives early Thursday arrested a man they said was the accomplice of a man killed during an attempted robbery at a Capital Boulevard hotel last weekend.
Michael Tashon Johnson, 32, of Bunn Level in Harnett County was charged with eight counts of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of conspiring with Terry Lebrone Wilson.
Wilson died in a breezeway at the Sun Suites Hotel at 3215 Capital Blvd. from gunshots fired by one of the people in the room early Sunday, police said. They had been searching for a second man who they believed fled the scene in a car.
Arrest warrants charging Johnson say he threatened to use a handgun and a sawed-off shotgun and tried to steal “U.S. currency and narcotics.”
The warrants list three women and five men as victims.
Johnson also was charged with gun possession by a felon, citing the handgun and shotgun.
Johnson has a conviction in Harnett County in December 2008 for attempted armed robbery, police wrote.
Police added a charge of marijuana possession in a correctional facility, a felony, after finding what they said was a misdemeanor amount of the drug in Johnson’s possession when he was being booked at the Wake County Detention Center.
Johnson’s bail was set at $1,555,000 on all the charges, and he was scheduled for a Thursday court appearance.
