Drug investigations by Raleigh police and Wake County sheriff's deputies led to marijuana trafficking charges against four people Wednesday.
A trafficking charge means authorities seized a minimum of 10 pounds of marijuana.
City detectives arrested Yung Jun Kim, 37, at the Sutton Square Shopping Center on Falls of Neuse Road about 2:30 p.m. and charged him with trafficking by possession, using a 2008 Lexus to keep and sell drugs and conspiring with someone identified only by the nickname “Fatty.”
Authorities could not find any permanent address for Kim, and Kim was held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
In an arrest warrant, narcotics detectives said only that Kim had between 10 and 50 pounds of marijuana, which is the range the law sets for a Class H felony.
In three separate arrests, Wake County investigators charged Isaiah Andrew Price, 21; Aaron Demetricus Thompson, 24; and Kendra Danielle Sab Chapman, 21, with trafficking by possession, conspiring with one another, and maintaining Chapman’s rented house at 9548 Cascade Court, southeast of Garner, as a drug storage and selling location.
The charges against the trio specified the 10-pound to 50-pound range for marijuana seized.
Price, of 409 Sandy Run, and Thompson, 24, of 5937 Presentation Court, both near Knightdale, were also charged with gun possession by a felon and possession of stolen guns.
Thompson, who was arrested first during a traffic stop at U.S. 70 and Raynor Road, also was charged with a separate marijuana possession felony involving 97 grams of the drug and with maintaining a 2002 Ford Taurus for drug purposes.
Price was being held without bail and Thompson in lieu of $375,000 bail. Chapman posted bail and was not in custody Thursday.
