Police say a woman was sexually assaulted by a man with a knife last weekend, and they are asking the public's help in finding a suspect the woman described.
Police said the man has a medium-brown complexion, stands between 5-foot-3 and 5-foot-6, has an athletic build and close-dropped hair and appeared to be in his mid-20s.
The woman was attacked at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in an alley between Ninth and Iredell streets, a block from Duke University’s East Campus.
The woman, whose age was not disclosed, was pushed to the ground before the attack and was treated later for minor injuries.
Police asked that anyone who has information that might help them find the suspect call investigators at 919-560-4440, Ext. 29349, or CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200.
CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers do not have to identify themselves.
