Durham man, woman charged with heroin trafficking

A man and woman were arrested Thursday and charged with heroin trafficking, cocaine possession and other drug offenses.

Shawn Jermaine Harding, 41, and Elizabeth Ann McKinney, 46, were arrested by Special Operations officers on Ivy Creek Boulevard, police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said.

Harding, who lives on Mimosa Street, and McKinney, who lives on Kent Street, had 23.2 grams of heroin, which is just under an ounce of heroin, Michael said.

Harding was charged with numerous drug violations, including multiple counts of heroin and cocaine trafficking, maintaining a place to keep drugs and having drugs within 1,000 feet of a school, according to records.

He was being held on $6 million bail at the Durham County Jail.

McKinney was charged with heroin trafficking,maintaining a place for drugs, trafficking in metamphetamine and other offenses, records showed.

She was being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
