Tactical police officers spent about five hours early Monday outside a South Roxboro Street home after a domestic violence call evolved into a standoff with a man who refused to surrender, police said.
Patrol officers were called to the house in the 900 block about 12:15 a.m., spokeswoman Kammie Michael said.
A woman in the house was released shortly after police arrived, Michael said, but a man refused to come out when police ordered him to.
The department’s Selective Enforcement Team was called in, and those officers went into the house to arrest the man about 5 a.m., Michael said.

Police closed South Roxboro Street between Enterprise and Chestnut streets during the incident.
