Four youths who escaped Wednesday night from a juvenile facility in Rocky Mount after assaulting a staff member were recaptured about 20 miles away in Spring Hope about 12 hours later, state public safety officials said.
The quartet got out about 9:30 p.m., the state Department of Public Safety said. Spring Hope police recaptured them about 9:45 a.m., the department reported.
Officials partially identified the four and gave out their photos after the escape. They said the four are from Wake, Carteret, Guilford and New Hanover counties.
The Wake County youth was identified as Joshua G. Officials did not give his age or where in Wake County he is from.

When the four got loose, a statement said officials at the Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice had “a high degree of concern for the safety of both the juveniles and the public, due to the assaultive behavior exhibited by the juveniles during the escape and/or a prior history of unpredictable behavior.”
Officials did not disclose why the four were sent to the Edgecombe Youth Development Center or how long they had been there.
