A 34-year-old Wake County woman was being held on $1 million bail Friday after her arrest on a charge that she raped a 15-year-old boy last year.
Wake County sheriff’s deputies took Kristina Faye McCullough into custody Thursday afternoon at her Old Meadowbrook Drive home near Garner, records showed.
According to an arrest warrant sworn out last year, the incident happened between Aug. 20 and Aug. 31, 2015. The charge does not say where.
The youth was 15 at the time, and McCullough was 33.
She was charged with statutory rape or sexual offense, which state law says applies when a victim is 15 years old or less and is at least six years younger than the person being charged. The crime is a Class B1 felony, and conviction can bring a sentence ranging from 12 years to life imprisonment if a judge finds the circumstances were unusually bad, state law says.
Deputies also served McCullough with two arrest warrants for failing to appear in court in Johnston County when she was supposed to appear on several traffic offenses, including driving while impaired, reckless driving and driving with a revoked license.
