A 19-year-old Fuquay-Varina man was charged Thursday with trafficking in marijuana.
Khalil Mahmoud Al-Najjar of 7509 Purfoy Road was charged after being brought to Raleigh police detective offices for questioning, according to arrest records.
According to an arrest warrant, Al-Najjar had and transported between 10 and 50 pounds of marijuana. The charge of trafficking requires at least 10 pounds of marijuana, and any amount between that and 50 pounds is a Class H felony that carries a sentence of 25 to 39 months in prison if the person is convicted.
Police also charge Al-Najjar with conspiracy, saying he had worked with another man. They also charge him with resisting arrest.
The charges do not specify what led detectives to Al-Najjar.
Al-Najjar was held in lieu of $201,000 bail.
