Sheriff’s deputies on Thursday again asked for the public’s help in finding whoever was involved in the shooting death of a 33-year-old man last week on Angier Avenue.
Eric Ray of 3212 Fayetteville Street was walking home from work in the 3700 block of Angier Avenue about 7 p.m. last Thursday when he was fatally wounded by gunfire, deputies reported.
Investigators are hoping that passerby may have seen two men running or walking in the area around the time the shooting took place. The deputies are relying on video surveillance that shows a “significant number of people in the area of the crime scene,” the Durham County Sheriff’s Office says in a release Thursday.
The day after the shooting, sheriff’s deputies announced that they wanted to know more about a maroon sedan and a man seen walking away from it at the time of the shooting.
Sheriff’s detectives are urging other motorists and pedestrians who were in the 3700 block of Angier Avenue between 6:30 and 7 p.m. on Oct. 20 to contact the sheriff's office at 919-560-0900 or Durham CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200.
The sheriff's office wants to encourage potential witnesses concerned for their identity to know all crime tips are considered anonymous. They can also submit information anonymously at firstname.lastname@example.org.
