APEX An Apex man has been charged with seven break-ins and two burglaries at homes in town and the theft of power tools from all of them, including three power washers.
Police arrested Armando Dewitt Funtila Jr., 25, on Friday at his home at 2806 Kentshire Place. Nine arrest warrants accused him of seven counts of breaking into or entering a residence, two counts of first-degree burglary when someone was home, and nine counts of felony larceny.
The thefts happened between Aug. 19 and Oct. 11, the warrants said.
Power tools were listed in all the cases. Three of them listed a power washer among the devices. There also were leaf blowers, power trimmers, drills, saws and three bicycles.
Police had arrested Funtila on Sept. 28 on a charge of felony larceny, and they added charges later that day of possession of burglar’s tools, felony larceny and breaking or entering.
Two days later, they charged Funtila with obtaining property by false pretense.
He had been released on bond from those arrests when police arrested him again Friday. A magistrate set his bail on the new charges at $250,000.
Funtila was scheduled for a Monday court appearance on the latest charges.
