A 21-year-old man who worked at a Raleigh pawn shop was being held on $1.2 million bail Friday on charges that he stole six handguns from the shop.
William Devon Evans of 820 Lake Brandon Trail also was charged with illegal gun possession by a felon.
According to arrest warrants, Evans stole five semiautomatic pistols and a revolver from Arrow Pawn at 2421 Crabtree Blvd. between Sept. 7 and Oct. 21.
Police arrested him Thursday on six counts of each charge.

The guns included four .40-caliber pistols, a 9 mm pistol and the .38-caliber revolver, police said in the charges. They included Smith & Wesson and Glock weapons.
The possession charges are based on his conviction last March of felony breaking or entering. He was placed on 18 months’ probation.
