Police late Monday arrested a man who they said was outside a downtown bar stalking the same woman he had been convicted of stalking during the summer.
Records showed that Vincent Joseph Howard, 50, told a magistrate after his arrest that he wanted to go back to the Anchor Bar at 207 Fayetteville St. and throw a brick through the window, and he was held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
Howard was standing outside the bar after following the woman there and being told to leave, police said in an arrest warrant charging him with felony stalking and second-degree trespass.
Several times before, the warrant said, Howard had appeared along the route the woman takes from her home to work.
Never miss a local story.
The woman is the same person Howard was stalking in July, when he was arrested for misdemeanor stalking, records showed.
He was convicted Aug. 2 and put on a year’s probation.
The magistrate who set Howard’s bail also noted that Howard said he was likely to flee from the area if he was freed on bail. It was unclear from the records whether Howard has a permanent address.
Howard was to have a first court appearance Tuesday.
