Raleigh police say a man seen wearing white coveralls near the scene of a cab driver’s killing Tuesday evening is a suspect and that they need help finding him.
Mwabu Cyril Efobi, 56, died outside the Universal Cab Co. offices at 432 Hill St., across from St. Augustine’s University.
A man who called 911 told an operator at 6:15 p.m., “There is somebody shot outside,” but said no one had seen what happened.
Efobi was pronounced dead at the scene.
Surveillance photos that police released Thursday show a man in a white suit outside the building. In one image, he appears to have a beard and is wearing a baseball cap.
In a second photo showing the man running away, a hood attached to the white suit is pulled over his head.
It is not clear from the pictures whether the long-sleeve white suit is conventional coveralls or the kind of protective suit that chemical workers or others dealing with hazardous materials might wear.
Police ask anyone with information that might assist the investigation into Efobi’s killing to call Raleigh CrimeStoppers at 919-834-HELP (4357) or visit the CrimeStoppers website for text and email reporting options. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for anonymous tips that help solve cases.
