Otonia Janee Bunn is 17, left school in November and is banned from all Wake County Public School System property, but Raleigh police charge that did not prevent her from boarding a bus earlier this month to punch a student “in the face/head numerous times.”
Bunn, who booking records say now lives on Swinburne Street in Durham, was charged in an arrest warrant with assault and second-degree trespass, both misdemeanors.
Wednesday, police arrested Bunn at the Wake County Justice Center, where she had come for a court hearing in an earlier assault case.
The arrest warrant says the bus was at Cyrus and Early Rise streets on Dec. 1 when Bunn got on.
It says administrators at Middle Creek High School had told her to stay off school system property.
Lisa Luten, a spokeswoman for the school system, said Bunn was last listed as a 10th-grader on Nov. 4 and was not a student after that date.
School officials do not discuss why students leave school, citing confidentiality requirements.
Bunn is next due in court in the school bus case on Jan. 11, court calendars show.
