A man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of an 18-year-old who was found in a car with a bullet hole in his head on Dec. 11 in southeast Raleigh.
Aljariek Josiah Freeman, 18, of Hewberry Lane in Raleigh, was arrested by U.S. marshals in the Atlanta area, a Raleigh Police Department release said Sunday.
Freeman faces murder charges in the death of Brandon Khalil Sandy, 18, who was found on Edwin Drive with a bullet hole in his head, according to a 911 call released Wednesday.
Freeman has been transported back to North Carolina and is being held in the Wake County Detention Center, the release said.
Sandy was found in an off-white Lincoln Town Car, which had been parked on Edwin Drive, behind the South Ridge Apartments, since the night before his body was discovered, a 911 caller said.
South Ridge residents stayed away until Sunday because they feared the man inside might have been “messed up on drugs” and dangerous, the caller said.
The area is a short drive from the police department’s Southeast District station.
Sandy and another man had been arrested in January on a felony assault charge after a man and woman were shot on Hensley Drive.
