A Douglas County, Colorado sheriff's deputy reacted almost instantly as he was confronted by a man holding an assault rifle by a stopped SUV. The deputy shot Deyon Marcus Rivas-Maestas, 25, who has been charged with first-degree assault of a peace officer, according to the Littleton Police Department.
