A former guard at the state's Lumberton prison has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for receiving more than 4,700 pictures of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
A statement said Joshua Lynn Gonderman, 23, of Lumberton came to the FBI’s attention because he had received pornographic images from someone agents were investigating in another state.
Local authorities searched Gonderman’s home in May 2016 and seized electronic storage devices on which they found child pornography, the attorney’s office said.
Federal authorities took over the case, and Gonderman pleaded guilty in February, officials said.
District Judge Louise W. Flanagan sentenced Gonderman on Tuesday. She ordered him to be on parole for 10 years after he gets out of prison.
The state Department of Public Safety said Gonderman was a guard at Lumberton from mid-August 2015 until July 2, 2016.
