An employee at a realty company just west of downtown arrived at the office early Tuesday afternoon to find two of her co-workers tied up in the wake of an armed robbery.
“I’m calling from Adams Realty,” the 74-year-old employee told a 911 dispatcher. “We have been robbed, and they tied up two of the people in the office. We need some help now.”
Police are searching for the suspects, both men, who fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The robbery took place at about 1:15 p.m. at the offices of Adams-Terry Realty Co. in a converted house at the corner of Hillsborough Street and West Park Drive.
Two men, one armed with a handgun, entered the business and demanded money, according to police spokeswoman Laura Hourigan. The two workers were then bound with zip ties, Hourigan reported.
The woman who called 911 said that the robbers had “broke in three doors” and that she found her co-workers in a bathtub.
“We need somebody here to help,” the caller told a dispatcher. “I can’t get the people. They tied up. I can’t get them out.”
The workers were unable to provide the dispatcher with a description of the robbers or say if they fled by car or on foot.
