An audit of the Taz’s convenience stores in downtown Raleigh turned up a money shortage, and police on Wednesday charged a man with embezzling more than $66,000.
Mourad Fadel, 43, who lives on Hilltop Drive, was arrested at his home Wednesday afternoon.
An arrest warrant charged that Fadel had embezzled $66,619.82.
A police report said the audit covered the first six months of the year.
Police did not say what Fadel’s job at the convenience-store chain was.
