State troopers asked Thursday for the public's help in finding a driver whose vehicle killed a bicyclist in a nighttime crash on Wendell Falls Parkway last week.
They also distributed a surveillance-camera photo of a car that was in the area around the time that Pablo Josue Banegas, 16, of Nesting Eagle Drive in Wendell was fatally injured about 11 p.m. on Aug. 3.
Banegas was riding north when some vehicle hit him from behind, throwing him off the bike, State Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Michael Baker said.
Banegas died at WakeMed Hospital from his injuries, Baker said.
Never miss a local story.
Troopers have found no witnesses to the hit-and-run crash.
The highway patrol asked anyone who can provide information on the vehicle shown in the photograph or its driver to contact the State Highway Patrol Raleigh Communications Center at 800-662-7956 or the Wake County District Office at 919-733-4400.
