Four teens are accused of causing more than $1.5 million worth of damage to a hotel being built in Sneads Ferry near Camp Lejeune.
The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office said the incident took place at the future Hampton Inn along N.C. 210 on Aug. 1. The agency reported “a large amount of property damage,” including water damage resulting from a main valve being opened.
With the help of anonymous tips, investigators identified and arrested the teen suspects Monday.
Police charged Holian Yvonne Houseweart, 16, of Sneads Ferry; Christian Ray Deel, 18, of Hampstead; and Matthew Scheffler, 18, of Hampstead with felony injury to real property, felony breaking and entering, and misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The fourth suspect, whose name was withheld because the person is younger than 16, also faces charges in connection with the vandalism.
