Police late Monday charged a 23-year-old man with murder in the death of another man early Sunday morning at a Wolf Glen Court apartment complex.
Barry Carnell McCrae was charged with shooting Quentin Quante Judd.
Police went to the Wake County Detention Center to charge McCrae, who was being held on a charge from Sunday night that he had 6 pounds of marijuana in his apartment at the complex.
Never miss a local story.
Police found Judd, also 23 and a former Shaw University basketball forward, wounded when they answered a call about a loud party at the four-building Wolf Glen Court complex about 3:15 a.m. Sunday.
He died later at WakeMed Raleigh hospital.
McCrae’s name first appeared when police charged him with marijuana possession with intent to sell it.
He was arrested about 11 p.m. Sunday on the possession charge and an additional charge of maintaining the apartment as a place to keep and sell illegal drugs.
Police have not commented on whether any marijuana was involved in Judd’s killing.
Monday, a friend of Judd’s in his native Baltimore, set up a GoFundMe page to collect money to bring Judd’s body back to Baltimore for burial.
