A 16-year-old Sanderson High School student was arrested there Thursday in connection with a social media post involving a gun.
Police arrested Ryan John Koves about 10 a.m. and charged him with making a false report of mass violence on education property. The charge is a felony.
Police said the post was made on Snapchat, but they declined to discuss what made the post a threat or to whom it was sent.
Koves’ arrest came one week after a Garner High School student was arrested on the same charge for social media posts suggesting there would be violence there.
School officials became aware of a social media post that showed a person with what appeared to be a firearm, Wake County Public School System spokeswoman Lisa Luten said.
“It was reported and addressed pretty quickly,” Luten said.
She said the school principal had a made a call to parents telling them what had happened.
Students said there were rumors about someone with a gun in the area Thursday morning.
