A teen has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle after the jogger he struck with his car last week died Monday from his injuries.
Derek Macrae Davis, 37, of Holly Springs was jogging with his wife around 6:30 a.m. April 20, according to town spokesman Mark Andrews.
The two were crossing the intersection of Holly Springs Road and Linksland Drive when Davis was struck by a car driven by Roberto Carlos Solis-Reyes, 18, of Apex, Andrews said.
Davis’ wife was not injured. Solis-Reyes and his 17-year-old passenger also were not hurt.

Davis was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh where he remained in critical condition until he died Monday afternoon, Andrews said.
In addition to misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, police earlier charged Solis-Reyes with a series of violations, including: running a red light; failure to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk; failure to yield, causing serious bodily injury; careless and reckless driving; and operating a motor vehicle with a permit and not being accompanied by a licensed driver.
