A Cary man was charged Tuesday with three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child over three years that police said began when the child, who is now 15, was 12 years old and ended last Dec. 1.
Police arrested Niraj Piyush Joshi, 41, at his 214 Capistrane Drive home Tuesday afternoon.
In arrest warrants, police alleged that inappropriate behavior began in early 2012 and continued through last year. They did not disclose what actions they believe happened.
Investigators also did not disclose whether the child was a boy or a girl, but Capt. Randall Rhyne said Joshi and the child knew each other before the time covered in the warrants.
The warrants also indicated that a social worker had helped police compile the case that led them to make the allegations.
A magistrate set Joshi’s bail at $500,000. He was held overnight for a court appearance Wednesday.
