Police charged a 41-year-old man with murder after an 18-year-old woman they said he was dating died of a gunshot wound to the chest at his house while they were "playing" with a gun.
Derrick Lester Williams was arrested at his home at 92 Mitchner Drive. He had called police to come there about 2:40 a.m. Saturday after Moesha Lockamy was shot, Chief David Hess said in a statement.
Police and paramedics could not resuscitate Lockamy, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Hess said she appeared to have a single gunshot wound to her chest.
“Investigators believe that Lockamy and Williams, who were in a dating relationship, where playing with the firearm when it discharged. The exact circumstances of events leading up to the discharge of the weapon are still being investigated,” Hess said.

Hess said a magistrate set Williams’ bail at $100,000, and he was due for a court appearance Monday. Johnston County online jail records showed he had been released pending that appearance.
