A 26-year-old man wanted on murder charges by authorities in New Jersey was arrested in Wake Forest on Tuesday.
Jaquil “Yay” Johnson was featured on the Newark Police Department’s Most Wanted list. Investigators accused Johnson of a homicide that happened just before 6 a.m. on New Year’s Day, according to the police department’s website.
Wake Forest police, acting on a tip from the Raleigh Police Department, found Johnson at a home in the 700 block of North Taylor Street, according to town spokesman Bill Crabtree.
Crabtree did not indicate if Johnson has ties to the Triangle.
Police transported Johnson to the Wake County jail. Crabtree said he will be extradited to New Jersey “in the coming days.”
