RALEIGH Police have charged a 22-year-old woman with using scalding water to cause second-degree burns on a 2-year-old for whom she was baby-sitting.
Desha Shantel Crews turned herself in at the Wake County Detention Center Wednesday to face one count of intentional child abuse inflicting serious injury. She was held in lieu of $250,000 bail.
In an arrest warrant, police accused Crews of “administering a high level of second-degree burns to the skin with scalding hot water” on March 7.
The arrest warrant listed Crews’ address as 5339 Wayne St. in Raleigh, but she was booked with an address of 7418 Finch Road in Bailey, a community in Nash County.
