An 18-year-old Cary man was arrested at his home early Tuesday on charges stemming from an armed robbery in which the victim was pistol-whipped, police said.
Andrew Dale Messer was arrested at 217 Oswego Court on a warrant charging him with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit a robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
The incident Monday night on Cary Glen Boulevard involved a man Messer knew and the theft of a wallet holding $20 and some other items, police said.
The victim was taken to WakeMed Hospital in Apex, and his injuries were not believed to be serious, said Capt. Randall Rhyne, commander of the Cary Police Criminal Investigations section.
Police said in the arrest warrant that the victim had been hit several times in the head with the handgun.
Rhyne said police were looking for three other suspects in the case.
Messer was held in lieu of $300,000 bail for a court appearance later Tuesday.
