Two men were shot Wednesday afternoon, apparently in an incident that was reported as gunfire being heard in the area of Bragg Street area.
Police said the call about the shots came in to dispatchers a little before 5 p.m. from a person on Top Greene Lane who thought the sounds had come from the direction of Bragg Street.
Officers looking in the area found shell casings in Bragg Street at about the same time that an officer who was in the emergency department at WakeMed Raleigh hospital on a different matter reported two men had arrived with gunshot wounds.
Officers compared notes and said the two incidents were related, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.
Sughrue said Jermaine Shawon Tyson, 24, was wounded in his right shoulder, and Dominique Maurice Ruffin, 19, had wounds to his lower right leg and left arm.
Neither man’s injuries were thought to be life-threatening, Sughrue said.
Someone drove the men to the hospital in a private car, police said.
