Johnston County sheriff's investigators have charged 42-year-old Annie Marie Artis of Selma with murder in a Sunday shooting outside Clayton, and they said her arrest did not close the case.
Artis was charged Tuesday in the death of Derrick Lester Williams.
Williams’ body was found early Sunday outside a large building, known locally as the Sugar Shack, at 527 Slate Top Road. A party was underway, authorities said.
Investigators said Williams had been shot several times.
"Detectives have worked tirelessly on this murder investigation, which is ongoing, with the possibility of additional arrests," said Sheriff Steve Bizzell.
Artis, who lives on Oak Street in Selma, was held without bail at the Johnston County Jail for a court appearance Wednesday.
Williams had been facing a second-degree murder charge in the May death of a 18-year-old girl who was shot to death when, Williams told investigators, they were looking at a gun.
