One person was slightly injured when a fire that investigators said was set broke out in a room at the Wake Inn hotel on New Bern Avenue on Wednesday night.
Firefighters said they received an alarm at 9:22 p.m., and the first unit to arrive found smoke coming from a second-floor room in the two-story building at 3120 New Bern Ave.
The fire was under control seven minutes after it was reported, Lt. John B. Rasor said, and only the room where it happened was unusable.
One person was taken to WakeMed Raleigh hospital for treatment of an arm injury, officials said.

Rasor listed the cause of the fire as “intentional,” but officials did not disclose how it was set or if they knew why.
