A guard who was assigned to the state women’s prison earlier this month was charged Thursday with kicking in an apartment door in Raleigh in a domestic dispute.
Raesha Tierra Addison, 24, who lives on Highsmith Road in Knightdale, turned herself in at the Wake County Detention Center about 9:30 p.m. because Raleigh police had obtained a warrant accusing her of misdemeanor breaking and entering.
The warrant stated that Addison kicked in the door at 2000 Booker Drive on Wednesday while looking for a boyfriend. Police wrote that Addison and the man were breaking up.
The warrant also stated that Addison broke a front window in the apartment.
A spokeswoman for the state Department of Public Safety said Addison was assigned to the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women, on Bragg Street, on July 6.
She said the department was aware of the charge against Addison and is reviewing the case to determine any appropriate action.
Addison was released on $2,000 bail pending a court appearance.
