A Raleigh man was charged both with first-degree rape and assault on a female as well as making a false report to police about his car.
Police arrested Jordan Innis Mason, 26, at his 130 Cox Ave. apartment Monday afternoon in connection with what they said was an attack on a woman on the night of Aug. 11 along a remote section of Garner Road in the southern part of the city.
According to an arrest warrant, police believe Mason hit the woman in the head with his fist, leading to the assault charge. In addition to rape, he was also accused of second-degree sexual assault and second-degree kidnapping.
The false-report charge came, police said, after they identified a car owned by Mason as involved in the case and he told them his car had been stolen. It hadn’t been, they said.
Mason and the woman had not met before that night, police said.
