Police charged that an 18-year-old man whose car they stopped Monday night had a sawed-off shotgun in the vehicle as well as beer he was too young to possess.
Officers also charged Eugene Henderson Hester of 6124 Rock Quarry Road, just outside Raleigh, was driving with a revoked license.
According to an arrest warrant, police found a 20-gauge shotgun with its single barrel cut down to less than 18 inches long. That meets the definition in state law of a weapon of mass destruction.
There were three beer bottles in the car, police charged.

Hester was charged with one felony, possession of a weapon of mass destruction; a misdemeanor, possession of the beer by someone under 19, and a traffic offense for the license.
Arrest records show that police stopped Hester at Lynnwood Road and Tandal Place and arrested him about 9:30 p.m.
Hester was being held in lieu of $20,000 bail and was scheduled for a Tuesday court appearance.
