Orange County sheriff’s deputies helped tow a disabled and abandoned vehicle on Monday, then later found it had a hidden compartment containing what appears to be cocaine.
The deputies were called about the vehicle because it was impeding the flow of traffic on N.C. 54 near the Chapel Hill and Carrboro town limits, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office. After the vehicle had been towed, deputies found the compartment with a “large quantity of suspected cocaine” inside.
The press release does not describe the vehicle.
Now sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help in finding the owner of the abandoned vehicle and the cocaine. Investigators ask anyone with information to call them at 919-245-2900. Callers may remain anonymous.
