Police charged 18-year-old Charles Brian Short-Reed with having a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest Wednesday morning after a foot chase that began after the car rolled over at a downtown intersection.
The crash happened at South Bloodworth and East Cabarrus streets, near the Shaw University campus, police said. Officers chased Short-Reed, of 1228 Angelus Drive, and arrested him a few blocks away at 600 Chavis Way about 8 a.m., records said.
Short-Reed was also charged with fleeing in a motor vehicle to elude arrest.
A magistrate set his bail and $100,000, and he was being held for a Thursday court appearance.
