A 16-year-old was arrested in Durham on Wednesday and charged in connection with two gunpoint street stick-ups last month.
Montre Jarontay Cates was charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and two counts of conspiring with others to carry out that crime.
Jan. 3, police said, a husband and wife were held up in the 3500 block of Mayfair Street by three males who had masks on and guns. They took cell phones, the man’s wallet and the woman’s purse, police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said.
The same day, two men were held up by three males in the 2300 block of Nation Avenue and told police their phones and cash were taken.
A magistrate set Cates’ bail at $500,000, and he was held for a court appearance.
