A 16-year-old left Enloe High School on Monday to break into a nearby home and steal $8,000 worth of goods, according to police and court officials.
Kema Jevon Kennedy, who is listed in arrest records as living at 1507 E. Jones St., was charged with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny of jewelry, computers and prescription medicine from a house in the 2400 block of Bertie Drive, which borders the Enloe campus.
A magistrate who set Kennedy’s bail at $20,000, noted that Kennedy is a student at the school and has had “multiple suspensions and problems” there.
The Wake County Public School System confirmed that Kennedy is an Enloe student.
Records showed that police tool Kennedy into custody at North King Charles Road and Locke Lane, four blocks from the break-in.
Kennedy was scheduled for a Tuesday first court appearance.
