A second teen has been charged with breaking into 18 cars in a Wake County neighborhood and stealing two guns from them earlier this month.
Ryan Patrick Lefebvre-Babin, 16, of 1016 Robinfield Drive had been arrested Tuesday in connection with a car break-in, and Wake County sheriff’s investigators filed the additional charges Wednesday at the Wake County Detention Center, where he was being held.
Authorities had charged 17-year-old Jeffrey Peter Jantzi of 1312 Downeymeade Lane on Sunday with break-ins that day and with the string of incidents in the Turner Downs subdivision on March 6.
Both youths were accused of breaking into cars or entering unlocked ones with the intention of committing a crime, larceny of two handguns, and several counts of misdemeanor larceny of other items from vehicles.
The two live about a mile apart in neighborhoods off Holland Church Road, south of Ten Ten Road.
Lefebvre-Babin was in court Wednesday on the first charges and was due for another appearance on the new charges.
Jantzi is due to return to court on April 4.
