Police charged a woman with a felony Wednesday, saying she had no contact with her 14-year-old son for six days and did not tell authorities like state law requires.
They said the teen’s disappearance only came to light because he was not at a scheduled appearance in juvenile court Wednesday.
Jewell A. Grant, 37, of 7600 Mine Valley Road was charged under a part of state law that makes it a crime for a parent to not call police if the parent “does not know the location of the child and has not had contact with the child for a 24-hour period.”
Police had no indication that the boy, whose name was not disclosed because he is a juvenile, was in any danger, spokeswoman Laura Hourigan said Thursday.
Never miss a local story.
The reason he was to have appeared Wednesday was not disclosed, also because of his age.
Grant was released on $5,000 bail.
